A talented and focused hiker, nine-year-old Brighton College Dubai pupil Finlay is an inspirational youngster who recently set himself quite a challenge: to hike at least seven kilometres in each of the seven emirates of the UAE. This unique challenge didn’t just take in hiking either; there was also a lot of climbing to be done!
Undertaking this test of character and resolve to raise money for Football for Humanity, a Sport for Development charity that uses football-focused interventions to tackle complex social issues, Finlay completed the challenge on 27 March when, at Expo Dubai and alongside his friends, he completed a seven-kilometre trek within the grounds of what is universally recognised to be ‘the greatest show on Earth’.
There was also a lot of climbing to be done!
To take on such a challenge in each of the emirates is an incredible feat for such a young man, one that provides the ultimate test of psychological tenacity and the ability to cope with physical trials too. We congratulate Finlay and can’t wait to see what he gets up to next!
