Leveraging community-focused programmes to strengthen franchise success
One of the major benefits of joining an established franchise is the assurance that it has a deep understanding of business growth. Razzamataz Theatre Schools exemplifies this through its significant investment in innovative products, such as the successful Tiny Tots programme. Tailored for babies and young children with their carers, Tiny Tots has seen strong support since its launch, highlighting Razzamataz’s commitment to responding to local needs.
Tiny Tots is not only meeting the demands of families but also showcasing the thorough research and strategic investment Razzamataz makes in developing new offerings. This programme has been implemented across the UK, including at Razzamataz Carlisle and Dumfries, where franchisee Debbie Mitchell launched it in Carlisle in early June.
Recognising the popularity of baby classes, Debbie drew on her expertise and the comprehensive support of the Razzamataz network to create a welcoming environment for parents and their little ones. With sessions designed for newborns and toddlers, Tiny Tots quickly filled up, showcasing Razzamataz’s effective marketing strategies and community engagement.
“The success of Tiny Tots is a perfect example of how Razzamataz invests in its franchisees,” says Debbie. “The training and resources I received were invaluable, allowing me to create classes that both children and adults enjoy. Having young children myself, I knew parents needed a place to go with their babies and meet others in similar situations. We can offer this, along with a fun activity that builds social skills for children and establishes relationships with local families. Tiny Tots is proving to be a valuable tool for business growth.”
The popularity of Tiny Tots in Carlisle was evident, with two full classes and a waiting list within weeks. Prior to launching, Debbie conducted in-depth market research to understand parents’ needs in her community. Equipped with these insights and the support of the Razzamataz Head Office team, she created a unique programme for her schools in Carlisle and Dumfries.
“The sessions are so interactive and fun, with modern songs that adults enjoy as much as the children,” Debbie explains. “Each week has a new theme, with songs from nursery rhymes to Disney classics and chart hits, all tied to a particular theme. There are singalongs, light shows, and sensory play, creating a different level of engagement for all ages. Babies enjoy the colours and textures, while older children practise call and response with the teacher, introducing them to skills they’ll need for school.”
Tiny Tots’ success has also boosted enrolment across Razzamataz’s broader offerings, with 30 new students in Carlisle and 15 in Dumfries. This growth demonstrates the strength of Razzamataz’s franchise model, which emphasises innovation and community connection.
“As a new parent, you can’t predict your child’s path,” adds Debbie. “A baby starting with Tiny Tots could continue for 18 years. These sessions allow us to build relationships by spending time with adults in the classes, getting to know them as individuals. It’s wonderful to see genuine connections forming. Whether it’s grandparents bringing their grandchildren or new parents, many stay for coffee or head to soft play afterwards, building friendships and support networks.”
For those interested in a franchise opportunity, Razzamataz offers a proven model for success. The brand is committed to researching and launching new products that reflect current trends and meet community needs. With a strong social media presence and comprehensive marketing support, franchisees can promote new classes and initiatives, just as Debbie has done with Tiny Tots.
“We are all encouraged to be consistent with our marketing, so the schools already had a big profile in the community,” says Debbie. “By launching Tiny Tots, we’ve expanded our reach to a whole new audience of parents and families. As a new parent myself, I understand the challenges and am proud to create a nurturing environment where parents feel supported while their little ones explore performing arts.”
