A Magical Festive Concert Showcasing Young Talent
The Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai (RGSGD) celebrated the holiday season with a remarkable Festive Concert held at the Studio, Dubai Opera. The event highlighted the exceptional musical talents of pupils from Years 5 to 9, leaving the audience spellbound with a series of enchanting performances.
The concert featured individual performances as well as captivating ensemble pieces by the Year 5 & 6 Royal Choir and the Senior Royal Choir (Years 7-9). The diverse programme included vocal solos and instrumental pieces performed on piano, violin, flute, cello, and the Guzheng, reflecting the breadth of talent nurtured within the school.
Highlights of the evening included memorable renditions of “Canon in D” by Freddie Hiscock, “Theme from Interstellar” by Amelia Konakova, and “Golden Hour” by Amir Amer. Choir performances such as “That’s Christmas to Me” by the Senior Royal Choir and “Flying Free” by the Year 5 & 6 Royal Choir brought the spirit of the festive season to life.
Chloe Amsellem, Head of Music, RGS Guildford Dubai, expressed his pride in the pupils, stating: “Our Festive Concert at Dubai Opera was a magical evening that reflected the hard work, dedication, and immense talent of our pupils. The success of the concert reflects the strong partnership between RGSGD, Encore, and Dubai Opera through the Encore Presents Series. This initiative celebrates cultural diversity, nurtures emerging talent, and brings world-class music opportunities to pupils and the wider community. One of the upcoming shows includes the Andrea Bocelli Community Jameel Scholars concert on 26 January 2025, showcasing exceptional young performers.
Through this collaboration, RGSGD pupils gain exposure to professional-level artistry and cultural expression, enriching their education. The Encore Presents Series inspires and unites communities, demonstrating the transformative power of music in Dubai’s vibrant cultural landscape.
