Empowering Students Through Innovation, the EStars and NAS Dubai Esports Collaboration

In the rapidly evolving world of education, esports has emerged as an exciting new frontier, bridging the gap between digital innovation and academic achievement. EStars, a trailblazer in esports education, is leading the charge by collaborating with schools to provide unique opportunities for students to explore the dynamic world of competitive gaming. One such collaboration is with Nord Anglia International School (NAS Dubai), where students are taking their first steps into this vibrant industry through the BTEC in Esports programme.

A Pioneering Collaboration

In September 2024, students at NAS in Dubai embarked on their journey into the esports industry through a BTEC-accredited after-school programme delivered by EStars. This innovative course dives deep into the business of esports, covering topics such as player dynamics, game genres, teams, tournaments, and more. Designed to equip students with essential skills for a career in the esports ecosystem, the programme reflects EStars’ dedication to nurturing young talent.

A Day at the Yas Creative Hub

On Tuesday, 21 January 2025, the NAS students visited the EStars office at the Yas Creative Hub in Abu Dhabi. The day offered a glimpse into the vibrant heart of the gaming industry and featured a carefully curated itinerary:

  • Tour of Ubisoft Office and Yas Creative Hub Facilities: Students explored world-class facilities and learned about the innovative work taking place at Ubisoft.
  • Presentations by Industry Partners: Professionals from game development studios, including Boltable Studios, shared insights into their work, providing students with valuable career advice.
  • Hands-On Gaming Experiences: Students tested EStars’ new dynamic game and participated in a thrilling Rocket League tournament, with the winner taking home a gaming headset.
  • Student Presentations: NAS students showcased their learnings from the first unit of the BTEC programme, demonstrating their understanding of esports concepts to EStars and its partners.

This immersive experience not only celebrated the students’ hard work but also underscored the tangible links between their studies and real-world career opportunities in the esports industry.

The Benefits of Esports for Students

Esports is more than just gaming; it’s a multi-billion-dollar industry with career opportunities in areas like game design, marketing, event management, and content creation. Through EStars’ programme, students gain:

  • Practical Skills: From teamwork to problem-solving, the programme fosters essential skills applicable across various industries.
  • Industry Insights: Interactions with professionals provide students with a clear understanding of career pathways in esports.
  • Real-World Experience: Events like the Yas Creative Hub visit offer hands-on learning opportunities, inspiring students to pursue their passions.
  • Networking Opportunities: Collaborating with peers and industry experts helps students build connections that could shape their future careers.

Inspiring the Future of Esports

EStars’ collaboration with NAS is a shining example of how education can evolve to meet the demands of a digital future. By combining academic rigor with the excitement of esports, EStars is preparing students not only for success in the gaming industry but also for a world increasingly defined by technology and innovation.

For students at NAS and beyond, the journey into esports has just begun—and the possibilities are endless.
