The Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai (RGSGD) was thrilled to host the celebrated pianist, Marcos Madrigal, for an inspirational day of music. The visit was part of the school’s unique collaboration with Encore Dubai and Dubai Opera, aimed at offering pupils unparalleled musical experiences.
Renowned for his impressive accomplishments in classical music, Madrigal performed for RGSGD’s pupils in Years 3 to 8, showcasing his exceptional talent. Following his mesmerising performance, he conducted a masterclass for the school’s skilled musicians, providing them with personalised guidance. This session not only displayed Madrigal’s incredible abilities but also enabled him to impart his extensive knowledge and experience, creating a memorable learning opportunity for the pupils. Additionally, the broader school community had the chance to interact with Madrigal, enriching their understanding of classical music and the life of a professional musician through meaningful questions.
Marcos Madrigal, hailing from Havana, Cuba, and a graduate with honours from The University of Arts in Cuba, has established a global reputation through his performances in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls, his collaborations with eminent figures such as Nicola Piovani, and his pivotal role as the Artistic Director of Habana Clásica. In addition, his appearances in renowned venues like the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires and the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, his leadership at the Habana Clásica festival and the recognition he has received through numerous awards highlights his significant influence in the realm of classical music. Madrigal’s visit to RGSGD brought the essence of international classical music to the pupils, inspiring them to delve deeper into their musical interests and aspirations.
