Kathryn Keeshan, originally from Harrow, North West London, moved to the Republic of Ireland as a teenager where she completed her secondary education before returning to London for university. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Primary Education with a specialisation in Maths and IT.
Kathryn began her teaching career in Ealing, West London, where she quickly became a Leading Maths Teacher and subsequently Head of Key Stage 2. After several years in the state sector, she transitioned to private education, advancing to Assistant Headteacher at the prestigious Notting Hill and Ealing Independent Day School for Girls. During her tenure, she held multiple Head of Department roles in English, Maths, Assessment, and Humanities, and was an integral part of the senior leadership team.
Kathryn furthered her education with a Master’s Degree in Education, focusing on School Improvement at St Mary’s University, London. Her research earned her a Scholarship for Best Practice from the Department for Education and Skills.
Since 2013, Kathryn has been based in Dubai with her husband and their three children. She has extensive experience in international education and is well-versed in the DSIB and KHDA frameworks. Kathryn has led two Outstanding schools as Headteacher and was the founding Headteacher of another highly successful institution.
Her commitment to professional growth is evident through her additional qualifications, including the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leaders, training as an inspector, and becoming a qualified coach. Kathryn’s expertise lies in curriculum design and pedagogical approaches.
Outside her professional life, Kathryn enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends. She is thrilled to join The Arbor School, drawn by its innovative and forward-thinking approach to education, with a strong emphasis on environmental mindfulness, responsibility, and sustainability.
