In recognition of Autism Awareness Month this April, The Brain & Performance Centre, a DP World company, is launching an initiative to raise awareness for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and the support available for children with ASD in the United Arab Emirates. The Centre is supporting a prestigious Everest Base Camp expedition, led by renowned adventurer and former UK Special Forces operative, Ant Middleton.
This initiative brings together both local and international organisations, highlighting the importance of evidence-based, multidisciplinary treatment programmes for children facing cognitive and physical challenges. As part of the effort, a team from The Brain & Performance Centre will embark on the trek, with the journey captured in a documentary-style format to be shared across multiple platforms, further amplifying the campaign awareness.
“Every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential,” said Dr Craig Cook, CEO of The Brain & Performance Centre. “By raising awareness and mobilising support, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with autism and their families.”
Ant Middleton commented, “It’s a privilege to lead this expedition and support such an important cause. Trekking to Everest Base Camp embodies the resilience and strength these children and their families demonstrate daily. I’m proud to help raise awareness for autism and highlight the incredible work being done by The Brain & Performance Centre.”
At the forefront of cognitive and physical health advancements, The Brain & Performance Centre provides a pioneering youth programme tailored to children experiencing developmental challenges. Designed using internationally recognised medical research, this specialised treatment programme is available exclusively in Dubai and has already transformed the lives of children in the UAE and beyond. It integrates hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) alongside personalised cognitive, physical, and nutritional training, enhancing cognitive function, mobility, and overall well-being.
The Brain & Performance Centre’s youth programme supports children with cerebral palsy, developmental delays, post-concussion syndrome, traumatic brain injuries, and specific forms of autism spectrum disorder. By adopting an individualised approach, the programme has already helped many children gain greater independence and improve their quality of life, while also providing families with essential support and guidance.
We invite you to support this initiative by contributing to the treatment of children residing in the UAE. The Brain & Performance Centre’s specialised treatment programmes are tailored to meet the unique needs of each child. Prior to enrolment, every child undergoes a thorough assessment, and admission is only granted if our expert medical team is confident in the potential for successful outcomes.
Above all, The Brain & Performance Centre is committed to delivering this programme in accordance with the highest standards of regulatory compliance, informed consent, privacy, and inclusivity, ensuring the well-being of every child under its care.
As part of this initiative, a dedicated fundraising campaign is underway to support autism treatment for children in the UAE. Individuals and organisations interested in contributing can learn more about the programme and donation mechanisms by contacting:
