The future of youth cricket in Dubai looks brighter than ever, thanks to the Desert Vipers’ outstanding performance at the R66T Cup Dubai 2025. Held at the iconic Sevens Stadium, this global tournament brought together elite school teams from the United States, New Zealand, Oman, and the UAE.

The Vipers’ U15 Girls’ team clinched the championship title. Meanwhile, the U13 Boys secured second place, and the U15 Boys finished a strong third. These results are even more impressive considering that all 50 players were selected through the Desert Vipers Schools Programme—a structured initiative that’s redefining youth cricket in Dubai.

A Model for Sustainable Youth Cricket in Dubai

The Desert Vipers Schools Programme identifies talent in students aged 8–13, offering a clear and inclusive pathway into elite-level youth cricket. By partnering with schools across Dubai—including GEMS Winchester, Horizon International, Uptown International, Jebel Ali School, and The English College—the programme ensures wide access and long-term player development.

Training is led by a top-tier coaching team, including Jack Luffman (ECB Level 3 Coach), former English cricketer Arron Lilley, and former UAE Women’s Captain Chaya Mughal. Together, they focus on developing not just skills—but mindset, confidence, and team culture.

Stuart Booth, Director of Sport at GEMS Winchester School, shared:

“The Desert Vipers have given our students a rare and inspiring opportunity to grow as athletes. Many of them have proudly represented the team at R66T, gaining experience and memories they’ll carry for life.”

Empowering Girls Through Cricket

The U15 Girls’ championship win isn’t just a trophy—it’s a statement. The Desert Vipers are setting the standard for gender-inclusive youth sports. Girls in the same school network receive equal training, support, and opportunities to excel. As a result, more young female cricketers in Dubai are thriving in competitive settings.

What’s Next for Desert Vipers Development: From Dubai to Abu Dhabi and Beyond

The journey doesn’t stop here. The Schools Programme is expanding to Abu Dhabi next month. In May and June, coaching clinics will launch across the UAE, providing expert-led training for aspiring players.

Looking internationally, the programme will also be delivered in the UK this summer. This global approach reinforces the franchise’s goal of building well-rounded, internationally exposed talent from the region.

The Desert Vipers thank their partners—Balqis, Bluewater Group, Cleveland Clinic, PalmFit, and Carrefour—for their support. Special thanks go to Sportz Journey and the R66T team for delivering a world-class experience.
